This is me on January 1, 2009. I had just bought a new camera, a Canon PowerShot SX10 IS superzoom, and I was beginning a 365 Photo-a-Day Challenge. The first theme was Self-Portrait.
My new adventure was a challenge to learn more about photography so I could take better photos. For the many years since then, a camera has been my constant companion, whether it was a superzoom, DSLR, mirrorless camera, GoPro or iPhone. I also expanded into making videos. I shared my love for photos and videos on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube.
The Next Adventure
This website is my next adventure. Years of superficial interactions on social media have left me feeling like my creations are ephemeral, fleeting moments that disappear within a few days. So I created this blog as a scrapbook for myself:
- To tell stories as well as show them and to have a place to revisit those stories again and again.
- To have a sandbox to play in, where I can experiment with photos and videos and record the results.
- To find my voice as well as my vision again. For many years, I’ve been silently sharing photos, an observer, but not a commentator.
I look forward to what this new adventure brings.
Why No Comments?
I have disabled comments on this blog because I don’t want to get caught up in the social media cycle of likes, comments and reactions that influence what I choose to share. I have also quit social media with the exception of YouTube. If you want to talk to me, you can send email to kbweb26@gmail.com.
